Labour – Lib Dem talks collapse. Lib Dem – Conservative coalition expected to be confirmed tonight

After another extraordinary day in Westminster the announcement of a Conservative – Lib Dem deal is imminent as Gordon Brown and the Labour Party admit the game is up. It is expected that Gordon Brown will go to the palace shortly, clearing the way for David Cameron to enter No 10. There are growing rumours that a Cameron Government will offer 6 cabinet posts to the Lib Dems. A handwritten note in Nick Clegg’s hand suggests that he is negotiating for a Lib Dem in each government department. Those rumoured to be in line for a cabinet post are, Clegg, Huhne, Cable, Laws and Alexander – with Lord Ashdown also in contention. To read the full account please click here
