#GE2017 – How Social Media Responded Last Week – 3 Days to Go!

With the General Election less than a week away, the conversation topics have shifted dramatically since the snap election was announced. We can see that Brexit is back being a key topic this week, having dropped to 13.9% last week. This tells us that the Conservatives have managed to stir the election agenda back to Brexit, putting them in a stronger position going into the final days of campaigning. Our analysis shows that the Brexit conversations are interestingly being led by UKIP and the Liberal Democrats this week. The NHS has swiftly moved up the agenda in recent weeks and Terrorism, having not been a key topic at the start of the campaign is now one of the most talked about topic.

Volume for Corbyn has also dramatically increased since the General Election was announced, and despite criticism, there are a large number of tweets in support for Corbyn and his policies. But, with reports that there are ‘fake Twitter accounts posting pro-Corbyn news‘ can these conversations be trusted? Or is social media making Jeremy Corbyn and Labour look like they are doing better than they are?
