Engaging Government through the recovery

Coronavirus has tested the resilience of the UK economy in a way it has not been tested in a generation. The last decade’s “jobs miracle” threatens to give way to levels of mass unemployment not seen since the 80s, whole sectors of the UK economy face collapse whilst global trade constricts in response to the growing global presence of the virus.

These challenges warrant a political response and place Government action at the core of any future recovery. To respond effectively to the challenges to come and make the most of opportunities available through the UK’s recovery, businesses need insight into the politics of the recovery.

As part of our Recovery series our expert team consider at the strategic, political and economic choices facing the Government and the opposition:

  • Former Shadow Chancellor, Chris Leslie, surveys the options available to Government in the current economic landscape.
  • Board Director James Dowling, a former special adviser and treasury official, looks at the lessons from the last crash.
  • Sam Greenwood, Political Consultant at Lansons, looks at how the Labour party is seeking to redefine itself around the UK Recovery.

The recovery series will include events with decision makers across the political spectrum opening with a panel event at 9am 7th July 2020.  To register your interest and see our broader calendar of events click here.
