Michael is a board director and the Head of Public Affairs at Lansons, looking after a range of clients covering sectors including financial services, transport, healthcare, energy, and industrials. The Public Affairs team at Lansons comprises dedicated professionals whose experience across government and politics allows us to provide strategic advice to clients, and support in creating campaigns that help heavily regulated clients navigate the complex world of politics, government, and regulation.
He was previously a director on Hill+Knowlton Strategies’ Energy + Industrials team, leading on public affairs and working across a number of major corporate clients. His focus was on supporting clients in the delivery of a favourable market and regulatory framework for a variety of major energy, transport, and industrial companies in the UK and Europe. He also supported in the development of stakeholder engagement plans and provides strategic political counsel for senior level clients.
Michael has 13 years’ experience of politics and public affairs with an extensive history of advising major clients in the UK, Europe and USA.
Prior to agency life, Michael led the public affairs offer for EDF Energy’s existing nuclear fleet and nuclear new build plans at Hinkley Point and Sizewell, leading the development and deployment of their policy and public affairs strategy and work on Electricity Market Reform.
Michael spent five years in politics working for former Energy Minister Charles Hendry MP, where he supported the development of the Conservative Party’s energy policy. He was also a press officer for the Conservative Party whilst in opposition, helping to shape messages to appeal to the public and deal with political journalists.
