The London School of Economics’ Dr Michael Bruter and Sarah Harrison, in association with Opinium Research, Lansons Communications and Lord Giddens, will be launching the findings of "Europeans in the Mirror?" - the largest ever project aimed at assessing the state of European identity across the European Union. We would like to invite you to join Dr Bruter, and our distinguished panel, to hear the findings and join in the discussion of this timely and valuable research.
The event will be chaired by The Rt Hon. Peter Riddell, Director of the Institute for Government, and our panel includes:
- The Rt Hon. Lord Brittan -Former Vice-Commissioner of the EU Commission and former Home Secretary
- The Rt Hon. Sir Menzies Campbell MP – Member of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee and APPG on the EU and former leader of the Liberal Democrats
- Chris Bryant MP – Shadow Minister for Borders and Immigration and former
- Lord Dubs - Chair of the All-party Parliamentary group on EU Enlargement
The survey covered 30,000 respondents across all 27 Member States of the European Union gaining an understanding of how ‘European’ citizens feel on the whole, why some people feel more European than others, what feeling European means to people across countries and contexts, and what is the impact of European identity on political attitudes, beliefs and behaviour.
There will be drinks and canapés from 5:45pm with a 6pm start and the event will be followed by drinks at 7:30pm. Please be aware that you will need to allow good time to get through the Palace of Westminster security. We would be delighted if you could join us to discuss the findings of Dr Bruter’s research.
